This is a good reference, but it is very very detailed instructions. That may be good or it can be bad if you get confused. Generally, you need a tower to start with. Tower meaning case. Then you get a motherboard. Once you have these you then you get all the parts that you need and make sure they are compatible with your motherboard. You need memory modules, video card (for better graphics), CPU (Central Processing Unit), sound card (sound card is generally not required anymore as the newer motherboards have better built in audio anyways), IDE devices, and fans. Fans like cpu fan, video card fan, and case/tower fans. Unless, your going water cooled in which, you then need water blocks. Water blocks mount on the cpu and video card. You then have a pump that pumps the water and keeps it flowing. For this you also need a reservoir for the water and radiator. Fans are easily efficient enough unless you are going for real high speed parts. To know how everything is compatible and will work on the motherboard you need to know some general knowledge on frequency’s (digital and analog). But, the site link above can help you out with most of that. This link has good general info too http://computer.howstuffworks.com/pc.htm. This site has lots of information and is a good site for self teaching on computer hardware and how they work: http://www.howstuffworks.com/computer-memory.htm This is just plain cool looking and thought I would add it http://www.newportharbor.us/computerworks.htm Hope this helped!

u can’t build a computer without experience or a job and authority to get the parts. but fine, go ahead and get electrocuted if u wanna be cheap and not buy a new one.

      You’ll need at least
      A case
      A hard drive
A motherboard (+processor, that may or may not come separate)
An optical drive (CD-ROM, DVD-ROM and all that ****)
      Memory: The solid type-RAM
      Network Card for Internet/Networking
      Graphical Card
      A Fan/Power Unit
These are just general terms, and you might need one or two things more but if you use those terms people’ll know what you’re talking about.
Look up **** on newegg.com, order it.
Instructions usually come with boxed shita nd if you KINDA know what you’re doing you should pull through.
But until then, your question is kind of expansive so come back with a more specific question.
