How Could I Get A Mailing List Of Unsigned Musicians?

I have just built a music website and it has regular users visiting, but I am not satisfied with the number and level of users.
The target users should be the unsigned musicians,so I am wondering how could I get them comming? I have tried using music forum and myspace but it didnt work that well, so I am thinking if I need start to promote by sending emails. Now I am confused where and how could I get a list of their email addresses? (I don’t mind if I need to pay for getting it)
    Any good suggestions?

I agree. It IS tough! In addition to the other suggestions that have already been stated, all I can do is tell you about me and what I am looking for. I am Angelina, the Cha Cha Queen. I play the accordion and keyboards by ear. I write my own songs. I am also a published author. I have been on two big tours with my (now) ex-husband in which we performed a Vaudeville show. I also created two big stage shows–one for college audiences, and the other, “Remember Idora,” a Broadway-style musical about an extinct amusement park, with a cast of 186 volunteers. At the present time, I am in the process of creating a literacy-based TV show for kids that, hopefully, will be aired on PBS every Saturday. I am looking for a bass player, a keyboard player, a rhythm/lead guitar player, and a drummer who are reliable and could commit to a national tour. I also need a keyboard player who can create background music for the various television episodes. So far, I have advertised on BandMix and in the Independent Florida Alligator. I have also posted a multitutde of fliers locally. So we are in the same boat. I’m also looking to hire an affordable full-time video editor. Anyone who would want to partner with me on this exciting project is invited to contact me at chachaangelina@yahoo.com So, yes, I sympathize with you.
It’s very tough to find competent, committed, reliable unsigned musicians.
